Eiki has been all over the world recently. After banging out the last part in “No Correct Way”, he jetted to Australia with Oakley, then he was in San Diego for the premiere, then to Vermont for some meetings and more premieres, than to Iceland for some skating with his brother (who by the way is a bad ass shredder as well), and then just recently he made the trip to Sweden for the Frontline Rail Jam

-WARNING PLEASE READ BEFORE WATCHING-

Randall and his parents wanted us to post this video in the hopes that it would help to educate riders on the dangers of avalanches and the importance of avalanche safety.

This summer in Argentina, Rome Regional Rider Randall Stacy was rescued after being buried by an avalanche.

Randall, a 16-year old student at Stratton Mt School, was riding Cerro Catedral with his coach, Ian Kirk and Colorado avalanche guide Alex Hunt. After hiking a peak in-bounds and testing snow conditions, Alex skied the face and posted up in the flats. Randall dropped second and was quickly caught in the center of a large slide. A standing ledge of snow prevented him from riding out of the slide and he was carried roughly 1/4 mile into the flats and buried three feet under the snow.

All three riders were equipped with avalanche beacons, shovels and probes. Alex Hunt was able to locate and probe Randall within 5 minutes and he was dug out in under 8 minutes.

Randall suffered a fractured patella and fibula, along with a significant contusion to his hip. His amazing fortune was recognized by all involved, and the kid is now a legend in Bariloche. This video stands as a reminder that even after testing snow conditions and seeing someone ride the line before you, the snow can still be unstable.

Randall’s currently healing up in Stratton, VT and looking forward to getting back on the snow as soon as possible.

filmed by Aaron “Trout” Maksymec

If you’d like to shoot a message over to Randall feel free to email Ridercouncil@romesnowboards.com and we’ll be sure to forward it along

McGreevy’s is located on Boylston St. in Boston and is part-owned by the Dropkick Murphys, so expect some good Celtic punk to be playing on the stereo and expect to have a tough Monday

To complement the high-def feature flick, First Chair Last Call, Special Blend (in association with SNOWBOARD Magazine) is paying homage to those who practice and/or preach the two mandatory snowboarding mainstays in the movie’s title.

First Chair:
As opening days are announced, get ready, as Special Blend will be there honoring those snowboarders looking to get-some from day one. At each opening day, the first set of snowboarders who obtain the coveted first chair will be handsomely rewarded with a head-to-toe certificate to get kitted out in Special Blend gear. That’s right, be the first snowboarder(s) on the lift on opening day and receive a Special Blend Jacket, Pant, Thermal, Beanie, Hat, Tee, Sweatshirt, Sock, Backpack, and so on and so forth… Ahwww yeah, you’ll practically be a Special Blend retail store.

Last Call:
When opening day comes to an end and the resort closes for the night, join Special Blend at a local watering hole to celebrate the days events. Various giveaways and Special Blend promo items will be handed out, and for those willing to take it to the end, enjoy a complimentary beverage or two during last call. That’s right; when the clock decides it’s time to close, consider it open bar on Special Blend. Sure, it’s a limited engagement, but just enough to say thank you for waking up early and staying out late.
